So I say she’s called Grace O’Malley but the studio call her “Shelly”.

I decided to base her on the historical heroine “The Pirate Queen of Ireland”. She was born in 1530 and died in 1603. She is a fantastic read if you’re into your history as she really was a trail blazer back in her time. She took ownership of her father’s land and fleet upon his death (even though she had a brother) and she even locked horns with Queen Elizabeth.

As for the model, I pushed my painting abilities with her by extending my contrast on skin, hair and the white of her shirt (which I’m particularly proud of).
